Oat milk and other dairy milk alternatives have become increasingly popular in America over the last few years. As a result, oat milk has quickly become one of the favorite milk options for vegans and those who have lactose intolerance.
Drinks made with oat milk have even found their way onto the Starbucks menu and have quickly become a fan favorite for coffee drinkers everywhere. This is largely thanks to the fact that oat milk is naturally sweet and much creamier than other milk alternatives.
These aspects also make oat milk an excellent liquid to add to smoothies. Oat milk smoothies are amazing, creamy, sweet, thick, and completely refreshing, especially if you’re looking for something to quench your thirst on a hot summer’s day. But, of course, it doesn’t hurt that oat milk is a safe choice for those who suffer from allergies or intolerances.
In this blog, we will give you our favorite recipe for an oat milk smoothie, as well as a few variations of what to put in it for you to try at home, so you too can enjoy the benefits of oat milk in a smoothie.

Different Oat Milk Smoothie Recipe Flavors
While this smoothie above is great on its own, there are all kinds of variations you can try to find your favorite. Here are a few of them, along with suggested quantities:
- 1 to 2 cups of baby spinach for a green smoothie
- Chocolate oat milk instead of regular oat milk for a chocolate smoothie
- If you want a tropical smoothie, add shredded coconut and a ½ a cup of diced pineapple to the mix, instead of the banana and peanut butter
- 1 cup of frozen blueberries for a yummy blueberry oat milk smoothie
- Add a ½ cup of strawberries instead of bananas for a strawberry oat milk smoothie
How to Store a Banana Oat Milk Smoothie
If you don’t drink all of your oat milk smoothie (regardless of the variety), you can store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. When you take the smoothie out of the fridge, make sure to stir it well to ensure the liquid hasn’t separated.
How to Freeze Banana Oat Milk Smoothies
If you made too much, or you simply want to be able to quickly get to your oat milk smoothie on the go, then you can also freeze your oat milk smoothie and drink it later. If you put the smoothie in a shallow container or ice cube trays, you can freeze it for up to 6 months. Make sure to re-blend the smoothie when you take it out of the freezer so that it’s creamy and delicious once again.
