Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a coffee bean? Making coffee is a whirlwind process that’s bound to thrill any coffee lover. But so far, we have been relegated to watching the process from afar. Luckily, there is a new video that will let you get up close and personal with a coffee bean’s life cycle — without having to leave your couch.
A Hungarian coffee roaster named Gábor Laczkó is giving us an inside look at the coffee roasting process through a short three-minute video called “Around the Roaster in 3 Minutes”. This is the bean-to-cup process as you’ve never seen it before!

The video starts with a soaring view of a Hungarian coffee roastery and then quickly dives down to start the tour. Inside, past a column made of burlap coffee bags, we ascend the stairs just in time to see a bowl of green coffee beans entering a roaster. That’s where it gets interesting…
Using a GoPro camera, the filmmakers take us inside the roasting chamber, where we spin around with the beans as they roast. It is an impressive sight! Several machines (and a roast level check) later, the beans are ready to be ground. If you’re easily dizzied, you’ll want to close your eyes during the stunning manual grinder section.
Then it’s time for tamping, brewing, and finally, the sweet taste of fresh espresso. After a quick spin around the roastery’s game room, the camera soars out the window… into a coffee field! Watch ripe coffee cherries come off the plants or just take in the luscious scenery.
Gábor Laczkó is the owner of a coffee company called Kávékalmár Kft. This video, which was made with drone cameras, is just his latest project — he’s also produced a series of detailed videos about how coffee roasting works.
