How Much Caffeine Is in Diablo Loco Energy Drinks? 2024 Breakdown

Diabolo Loco Energy Drinks

Enjoying an energy drink isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. Often you will take in tons of sugar, excess amounts of caffeine, and other ingredients that may leave you scratching your head. This is why those who love a healthy dose of energy without all the dangerous extras are always looking for what they deem a healthier energy drink to consume. One such drink that makes the claims of being a healthy energy drink alternative is Diablo Loco Energy Drinks.

Even with what some may feel is a healthier energy drink, it’s important to know the amount of caffeine you’re consuming each time you pop the top on one of these cans. This will help you ensure you’re consuming a healthy amount of caffeine per day and avoiding any unwanted side effects of too much. In a 16-ounce can of Diablo Loco Energy Drink, you’ll find what many would consider a high amount of caffeine, 160 milligrams. Let’s learn more about the caffeine inside these cans, how it compares to other energy drinks on the market, where you can find Diablo Loco, and whether it is truly a safer energy drink contender.

Diablo Loco Energy Drinks

When the original Diablo found its way to the United States, the company wanted to offer a tasty alternative to soda. Their Diablo line did just that. By providing carbonated beverages with fruity flavors, they were able to adhere to a market of people who wanted a healthier drink that could be just as tasty. That’s when the energy market opened up to them. Why not offer a tasty energy drink that isn’t as dangerous as others on the market? It was a great idea, so they capitalized on it. Thus, Diablo Loco Energy Drinks were born.

Diablo Loco wanted to stand out when it came to energy drinks. Instead of being packed with sugar and artificial flavors, they wanted to use a more natural approach. An 8-ounce serving contained 25 calories, 80 milligrams of caffeine, and 7 grams of cane sugar. They also claimed that all colors and flavors were naturally sourced and that their drinks were enhanced with a healthy amount of natural B vitamins.

Instead of only offering their French Lemonade and Acai Berry Guava energy drinks in 8-ounce servings, they upped the ante and used 16-ounce cans to give those looking for a boost of energy, without the unwanted evening crash, exactly what they were looking for. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long. The Diablo company has already discontinued its energy drinks and has decided to stick with its original soda alternatives.

The Caffeine in Diablo Loco Energy Drinks

According to Caffeine Informer, the 160 mg of caffeine that was found in a 16-ounce can of Diablo Loco Energy Drink is considered very high. While the company may have advertised a healthier energy drink alternative, the amount of caffeine found inside is the same as what you’d find in a Monster or Rockstar energy drink. Where you would’ve found healthy advantages to Diablo Loco is in the sugar and calorie amounts. With 50 calories and only 14 grams of cane sugar inside each can, those amounts are far less than most energy drinks on the market.

Let’s take a look at home the caffeine amount in Diablo Loco Energy Drinks would have compared to the current competition in the energy drink market.

Were Diablo Loco Energy Drinks Dangerous?

Considering it was an energy drink, many people may be curious whether the caffeine amounts inside each can made Diablo Energy Drinks dangerous. The answer to that question is no if you knew what you were doing. Like with any drink that has high amounts of caffeine, knowing how much of this stimulant you’re consuming daily is important.  This can be said for coffee, tea, and soda drinkers as well. Understanding how your body reacts to caffeine will help you determine how much you should consume a day.

The FDA recommends that a healthy adult only consume 400 mg of caffeine per day with no more than 200 mg coming in one serving. If you’re an avid coffee drinker or someone who enjoys several sodas throughout the day, you may feel that you consume that much caffeine per day and then some, considering it is equal to roughly 4 or 5 cups of coffee. This may be the case for you, but what you need to remember is that everyone is different. You may have a high caffeine tolerance and can easily enjoy 600 to 800 milligrams per day without any issues. That isn’t the case for everyone, unfortunately. Some people have lower tolerances when it comes to caffeine and must closely monitor how much they take in to avoid unwanted side effects like the ones listed here:

  • Jitteriness
  • Nausea
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Anxiousness
  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Increased blood pressure

If you experience any of these symptoms, you should avoid caffeine for a bit to let the effects subside. Once you’re feeling better, try to lower the amounts of caffeine you take in each day.

Final Thoughts

While Diablo Loco Energy Drinks may no longer be available, it’s still good to know about the 160 milligrams of caffeine each 16-ounce can offered consumers. With this energy drink being advertised as one of the healthier ones on the market in its day, you have something to compare to others that make the same comparisons. This will help you buy the energy drinks you feel are best suited for your body, your health, and especially your taste buds. If you don’t do great with high levels of caffeine, perhaps sticking to a soda or cup of coffee is in your best interest. If you’re one of those people who can drink caffeine all day and still need more, look into an energy drink.
