How Much Caffeine Is in Bubly Bounce?

Sparkling water is usually decaf, but several caffeinated variations exist. Phocus, AHA, Perrier, and Caribou are just a few brands that now offer caffeinated sparkling water.

Bubly Bounce contains 35 mg of caffeine. That’s a fairly low amount considering most coffee drinks exceed 100 mg, and even other sparkling waters can hover near the triple digits. Caffeinated sparkling water tends to stay under 150 mg, and Bubly fits right in on the lower to moderate side of the scale.

Beverage* Caffeine in mg. per 12 oz. serving
AHA Sparkling Water 30 mg
Bubly Bounce 35 mg
Caribou BOUsted Sparkling Water 75 mg
GURU Sparkling Energy Water 100 mg
Pep Talk Sparkling Water 50 mg
Perrier Energize 140 mg
Phocus Sparkling Water 75 mg
Poland Spring Sparkling Energy Water 75 mg

*Some of these drink lines have multiple flavors, but the caffeine content is consistent throughout.

How Does Bubly Bounce Compare to Other Caffeinated Beverages?

Caffeinated sparkling water doesn’t typically contain as much caffeine as more popular charged beverages such as coffee or tea. There isn’t really such a thing as an average cup of coffee since everything from the taste to the caffeine content depends on the particular beans and how they’re brewed.

However, it’s safe to say that most 12 oz. coffee drinks hover between 75-200 mg of caffeine. An average 12 oz. cup of brewed coffee contains about 142 mg of caffeine; however, the actual number can vary wildly depending on what beans you use and the type of drink. For example, a latte is made with concentrated espresso shots instead of brewed coffee, and each shot packs about 75 mg of caffeine. Except for decaf, it’s safe to say that all coffee drinks have a higher caffeine content than Bubly Bounce.

Black tea leaves usually give you about a moderate amount of caffeine, with an average 72 mg per 12-ounce serving. A comparable cup of green tea holds about 52 mg of caffeine. Herbal options such as peppermint, rooibos, and chamomile are usually caffeine-free.

Bubly Bounce contains significantly less caffeine than coffee, and marginally less than tea. Its caffeine content is on par with several soft drinks. In fact, a can of Bubly Bounce actually has exactly the same amount of caffeine as a 12 oz. Coca Cola. Energy drinks such as Monster are always more caffeinated than Bubly Bounce. For example, 12 oz. of Monster contains 120 mg of caffeine.

Beverage Caffeine in mg. Per 12 oz. Serving
Barq’s Root Beer 22 mg
Black Coffee 142 mg
Black Tea 72 mg
Bubly Bounce 35 mg
Coca Cola 35 mg
Diet Coke 46 mg
Dr. Pepper 43 mg
Dunkin Donuts Cold Brew Coffee 195 mg
Grande Latte at Starbucks (2 espresso shots) 150 mg
Green Tea 52 mg
Monster Energy Drink 120 mg
Mountain Dew 55 mg
Pepsi 39 mg
Vitamin Water Energy 30 mg

Is Caffeinated Sparkling Water Good for You?

Naturally flavored and containing only a handful of ingredients, Bubly Bounce and other caffeinated sparkling waters are definitely healthier choices than sugar-laden, chemically laced sodas and energy drinks. Even so, the added caffeine is some cause for concern.

Unlike coffee, which is a natural source of caffeine, sparkling water doesn’t organically contain the stimulant, so it must be added as an extra ingredient. Most times when caffeine is added to a beverage it’s an artificial ingredient, but we don’t know how Bubly does it. Coffee is probably the healthiest caffeinated beverage in terms of containing natural ingredients, but it depends on how much you drink, and if you take it black or douse it with sugar.

It’s important to keep tabs on how much caffeine you’re drinking on a normal basis. The current FDA guidelines say adults should cap their caffeine intake at 400 mg per day. It would take quite a few cans of Bubly Bounce to hit that number, but maybe not in combination with other sources of caffeine, such as coffee, chocolate, tea, and even certain foods such as protein powders and shakes.

Conclusion

With cheerful, fun flavors such as Blood Orange, Passionfruit, and Triple Berry, Bubly Bounce can add a little extra skip in your step since it contains 35 mg of caffeine with no sweeteners or artificial flavors. Although it has as much caffeine as a soft drink, Bubly Bounce is definitely a healthier option than a sugary soda. It has significantly less caffeine than energy drinks, coffee and most tea, so it’s also a smart choice if you’re wanting to reduce your caffeine intake, or if you’re looking for a mildly caffeinated beverage to finish the workday strong. The FDA recommends that adults limit their caffeine intake to 400 mg or less each day, so Bubly Bounce provides just enough boost to brighten your day without worrying about exceeding recommended caffeine levels.
