We’re going to teach you a simple recipe for making a blueberry iced matcha latte at home. It’s surprisingly easy and only requires a few ingredients and about ten minutes of working time. The hardest step is making blueberry sauce, and even that isn’t very difficult.
In a small saucepan, heat the blueberries over medium heat. As the blueberries start to break down, add water slowly in increments, stirring each time you add some. The goal is to let the sauce thicken by degrees. Crush the berries with the back of a spoon to accelerate the process and incorporate as much juice as possible.
After you’ve added all the water, remove the sauce from heat.
Strain the sauce to remove the skin and other solid remnants.
Let the sauce cool before storing it in the refrigerator in a sealed jar.
Make the blueberry iced matcha latte.
Combine the matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of room temperature water. Whisk the mixture vigorously until it reaches a thick, smooth consistency. This takes some practice, so don’t worry if it doesn’t come out perfect the first time.
Add the blueberry sauce to the bottom of a glass. This recipe makes enough sauce for one latte, but you can adjust the amount to taste.
Add ice to the glass and slowly pour your milk of choice over it.
Slowly pour the matcha over the milk. If you pour slowly enough, the matcha should sit on top of the milk in its own layer.
